It’s hard to know how to reach people these days.
Since our founding in 2010, we’ve dabbled in various social media platforms and communication channels, all as part of an endeavor to share what we’re excited about with the communities we care about.
Along the way, some of those platforms have been Medium, Wordpress, LinkedIn, and our sporadic email newsletter.
One of our more consistent outlets has been our Instagram account, through which we’ve been able to showcase more of our visual and design interests, as well as more off-the-cuff snapshots of the team.
Our longest-running outlet has been our Twitter account, which was created just off the heels of Fathom itself.
Twitter had been a huge part of how we reached people across all slices of interest, from science and technology to journalism and arts and more. It was gratifying and joyful to be able to share what we were excited about and to see other people get excited about it too.
But in the past few years, it’s ceased to be an enjoyable or even viable platform. The values of the platform owner are far from what we want to support, and we’re no longer able to connect with people in the same way that we had in the past.
All that to say: we’re putting our Twitter to rest and we’re now actively exploring Mastodon and Bluesky, two decentralized social media platforms. We’re not sure how the social media landscape will continue to evolve, but we’re hoping to stay connected to you all as we navigate the road ahead.
You can follow us on Bluesky here: https://bsky.app/profile/fathom.info
And on Mastodon here: https://information.garden/@fathom
And as always, we’ll keep on trucking here on https://fathom.info.
We’d love to hear what you’re working on, what you’re curious about, and what messy data problems we can help you solve. Drop us a line at hello@fathom.info, or you can subscribe to our newsletter for updates.
