The Sabeti Lab is offering cash prizes for the top three findings, which will be chosen by a jury of experts in the respective domains of each dataset.

We have chosen four public datasets in the areas of health, sports, and global development:

• National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
• Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
• Lahman's Baseball Database
• World Bank Development Indicators

Each one of these datasets is very rich in complex relationships between literally thousands of variables, and even though some of them have been extensively studied by specialists, there is more to be discovered. We also want to highlight the importance of open data as an enabler for transparency and public participation in research, governance, journalism, and economics, just to name a few areas.
